Senior Governance Financial ManagerOur client, a prominent organisation operating within the financial services, is seeking a Senior Financial Governance Manager to join their Finance and Strategic Sourcing Directorate. This is a pivotal role positioned at the heart of the finance function, offering the opportunity to drive significant change and enhance the organisation’s financial control environment during a period of strategic evolution.
The OpportunityAs the central contact point for financial governance, you will act as a first line of defence, ensuring continued compliance with the financial governance framework. You will play a key role in developing financial operations, policies, and controls to meet statutory, regulatory, and internal standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing financial governance arrangements across the organisation.
- Managing and coordinating the internal audit function.
- Providing assurance to the Finance leadership team on the effectiveness of the financial control environment.
- Supporting secretariat duties for the Board, Executive Committee, and Audit Committee.
- Strengthening strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including internal and external audit, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and The Pensions Regulator (TPR).
- Ensuring timely submission of regulatory requirements, including TPR master trust annual supervision submissions.
- Monitoring risk management processes and ESG reporting to comply with evolving requirements.
- Mentoring and training the wider team to strengthen financial risk and control capability
The CandidateThe successful candidate will be a strategic and analytical thinker with a proven track record in financial governance. You must possess the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, balancing professional autonomy with a collaborative approach.
Essential requirements include:
- Significant experience in governance, risk, and control frameworks within finance functions.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory, legislative, and best-practice requirements within financial services and the public sector.
- Experience of building and managing effective relationships with auditors and other key stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, including at senior levels.
- A resilient, adaptable, and highly organised approach with high attention to detail.
