The Role:An established regional law firm in Manchester is looking to appoint a Contentious Probate Fee Earner to join its growing disputes team. You will specialise in estate-related disputes, advising and representing executors, beneficiaries, trustees and other interested parties in a broad range of contentious probate matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a varied caseload of contentious probate matters with appropriate supervision
- Advising on will validity disputes and Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims
- Handling disputes involving estate administration, capacity, undue influence and related issues
- Conducting matters from pre-action stage through mediation and, where required, court proceedings
- Drafting correspondence, witness statements, pleadings and court documentation
- Negotiating settlements with a pragmatic and commercially focused approach
- Ensuring compliance with court timetables and procedural rules
- Working collaboratively within a supportive litigation team

Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in contentious probate
- Qualification as a Solicitor or CILEX is welcomed but not essential
- Solid technical knowledge of wills, trusts, probate and estate administration disputes
- Experience managing negotiations and ADR processes
- Strong drafting skills and attention to detail
- Confident communicator with a professional and empathetic client manner
- Organised and able to manage multiple deadlines effectively
