Director of Tax & Financial ControlLocation: London (Hybrid)Role overview:We’re working with a large financial services organisation that’s looking to appoint a Director of Tax & Financial Control to play a central role in ensuring strong financial governance and assurance across the organisation. This role provides clarity and confidence across financial control and tax, supporting effective decision-making at the most senior levels. Working closely with the CFO and senior leadership team, you’ll provide clear, considered leadership on complex financial matters and act as a trusted adviser across the business. The role suits an experienced finance leader who combines deep technical capability with visible, people-focused leadership and a collaborative, partnership-led approach.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the organisation’s approach to financial control, ensuring robust governance, controls and compliance.
- Set clear direction, standards and expectations across financial control and tax.
- Oversee statutory accounts, external audit and regulatory reporting.
- Support high-quality, accurate and timely financial reporting across the organisation.
- Provide senior oversight and guidance on pensions tax and wider tax matters.
- Help colleagues understand the tax implications of strategic and operational decisions.
- Work closely with the CFO and senior leadership teams as a trusted adviser.
- Share insight and recommendations at Executive Committee and Audit Committee level.
- Build strong, open and collaborative relationships across finance and the wider organisation.
- Lead, support and develop senior finance professionals.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, inclusion and shared accountability.
What we’re looking for:The minimum criteria for this role are:
- Significant experience operating at Director level within financial services.
- A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- A strong background in financial control, including Financial Controller-type roles.
- A solid working knowledge of tax, with the ability to provide clear advice and guidance.
- Experience presenting to Executive Committee and Audit Committee audiences.
- Experience working in complex, regulated environments.
It would be great if you also have:
- In-house financial services experience (rather than a purely consulting background).
- Experience in retail or consumer-facing financial services.
- Experience working within large or multi-entity organisations.
- Exposure to pensions tax (not essential, but a strong working knowledge is important).

Salary:
- £140,000 - £160,000+, depending on experience
